About the Foundation

The Science House Foundation is dedicated to bringing the excitement of science to students around the world. The Foundation makes grants to educational organizations, runs global educational programs for schools, produces educational media, awards scholarships and prizes for outstanding students, and recognizes teachers for their contribution to science and math education. The Science House Foundation is committed to expanding science education in underserved areas, and to nurturing the talent of students with exceptional potential in science and mathematics. The Foundation aims to make half of its grants within the US and half internationally.

The Science House Foundation is a private philanthropic organization established in 2008 under section 501(c)(3). The Science House Foundation was founded by James Jorasch and is the philanthropic arm of Science House, an organization that brings people together to promote and advance science. The Foundation is funded entirely by James Jorasch, who serves as its President. The Foundation is headquartered in New York City.

We believe that communication between schools enhances any educational experience, and no communication is more effective at enriching a student’s learning than one with their international peers. By collaborating on science activities, students from different linguistic backgrounds have a common ground to work on together.

Exciting science activities are the best way to engage children and their natural curiosity about the world around them. It is our pleasure to give students the tools to indulge this curiosity – because the desire to understand the world grows only stronger as they learn more about it.
